Promoting the Japanese release of her hit movie Juno, Ellen Page was on hand at a press conference in Tokyo on Wednesday (May 7).
Held at the Imperial Hotel, the 21-year-old Canadian actress politely smiled and and answered the reporter’s questions through an interpreter before being led off be her carriers.
And now that Juno is nearly completely behind her, Page has opted to join her first period piece - signing on to portray iconic character Jane Eyre.
Based on the Charlotte Bronte novel from 1847, the movie will “tell the love story of the governess and her master, Edward Rochester. It’s among the most-filmed English novels of all time, with well over a dozen productions reaching the big and small screens, including BBC-produced miniseries in 1973 and 2006. Among the actresses to play the title character over the years are Joan Fontaine, Susannah York and Charlotte Gainsbourg.”
