As investigators continue to look into the cause of Heath Ledger’s death, Mary-Kate Olsen has requested immunity in exchange for her cooperation in the federal investigation that’s currently taking place.
Ledger was found dead in his New York City apartment bedroom on January 22nd by his housekeeper and a masseuse who had shown up for an appointment - with the masseuse proceeding to call Miss Olsen before calling the authorities.
An autopsy showed the actor, 28, had prescriptions for pain, anxiety and sleep medications and the combination had killed him. Investigators interviewed Ledger’s doctors and the documents show that he had prescriptions for all of the medications except for Oxycodone and Vicodin - the two powerful and most often-abused painkillers, a source said.
Commenting on the investigation, Mary-Kate’s lawyer, Michael C. Miller, said: “Despite tabloid speculation, Mary-Kate Olsen had nothing whatsoever to do with the drugs found in Heath Ledger’s home or his body, and she does not know where he obtained them. Regarding the Government’s investigation, at Ms. Olsen’s request, we have provided the Government with relevant information including facts in the chronology of events surrounding Mr. Ledger’s death and the fact that Ms. Olsen does not know the source of the drugs Mr. Ledger consumed. We don’t know the source of the information being quoted in the media regarding the Government’s inquiry, but these descriptions are incomplete and inaccurate.”
Nonetheless, investigators could subpoena the 22-year-old actress, but hope to work things out before having to do so.
