Keanu Reeves Paparazzo Run-In… Literally!

Unable to use his Neo-like powers to morph out of the situation, Keanu Reeves was involved in a less than fortunate incident on Monday. The “Matrix” actor reportedly ended up handcuffed by police after “running into” a photographer while pulling out of a parking spot in LA, sheriff’s officials said.

People news reported that the accident, which occurred at 7:30 p.m., caused no harm to Reeves. Meanwhile, the photographer, Alison Silva, was rushed to a hospital with injuries of an unknown nature.

"Mr. Reeves pulled out of a parking space parallel to the curb and grazed a paparazzo standing in the street in front of Mr. Reeves’s 1996 Porsche,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.

“The man fell to the ground. Paramedics were summoned and treated the man at the scene. He was then transported via ambulance to a local hospital for further treatment.”

Female First reported that Reeves drove straight for Silva, who was quoted as saying: “I have never had anybody going after me like this… like he wanted to kill me. After I took his picture he was driving away from me. But then he turned round in a circle and drove straight at me.”

Silva continued, “The can bonnet hit me in the knees. I was lying in the street. Keanu kept saying ‘Oh my God, what have I done?’ He was going away until he saw someone had seen the whole thing.”

The accident is currently investigated by L.A. County Sheriff’s Dept. and no charges have been filed yet.

Reeves’ lawyer, Jay Lavely, stated Tuesday that the run-in “appears to have been brought on more by the actions of the paparazzo than by the actions of Mr. Reeves.’’

“The paparazzo, who had followed Mr. Reeves to Palos Verdes, was standing in front of Mr. Reeves’ car blocking his way when Mr. Reeves got into his car to leave. Mr. Reeves assumed that he would move away when he started to slowly inch the car away from the curb,’’ Lavely continued.

“If Mr. Reeves’ car did accidentally come in contact with the paparazzo, it certainly was not hard enough to injure him in any way or to knock him to the ground. It appeared as if the paparazzo was trying to cause this type of encounter.’’

According to Lavely, Reeves is cooperating with the authorities and “will also consider his own legal rights concerning the matter,” despite claims he tried to take off after the accident.

Meanwhile, Keanu is set to be starring in “The Night Watchman” as a corrupt cop who suddenly realizes that he can’t continue to play by his own crooked rules. The film is set to begin production in late April… as long as Reeves doesn’t try to run over anyone else in the meantime.
