Foxy Brown Freed From Prison

Eight months after she was incarcerated in a New York City prison, rapper Foxy Brown is a free woman. And she couldn’t be happier.

Brown (real name Inga Marchand) was sentenced to one year behind bars for assaulting two nail salon stylists over a $20 manicure back in October 2006.

But by September 2007 a judge ruled that she wasn’t taking her punishment seriously, and thus sent her to prison. A month later she was locked up in isolation for 76 days as a result of a shoving match with inmates and refusal to take a drug test.

Back in January, Brown requested to be released early due to an ear infection. She wrote a four page handwritten note to the judge, saying, “Yes, I’ve made some bad choices and stupid mistakes. But please understand that sitting in a prison with murderers and criminals is not rehabilitating or what I need to deal with my inner issues.”

Foxy was escorted from the NYC correctional facility by City Councilman Charles Barron, a privilege that isn’t usually granted.
