David Cook Jets Out of LAX

He had a great time at the 2008 Teen Choice Awards last night, but David Cook didn’t stick around for long. Shortly after the gig he was spotted catching a flight at LAX International Airport.

The American Idol champ looked a bit worn out as he went through the security checkpoint, toting a backpack on his back and his trusty guitar by his side.

During a recent interview the “Time of My Life” rocker revealed that being on AI helped him become a better performer. “The one thing about doing “Idol” is that it showed me that it doesn’t really matter what the size of the crowd is, you have to make it as intimate for the back of the room as well as for the front row. If you can get into that vibe, then you’re giving everyone the same show.”

And for those anxiously awaiting his new album, he shared that they’re getting it done slowly but surely. “It’s been hard with the tour, but Rob Cavallo, who produced Green Day’s “American Idiot,” is producing, and we’ve been having a lot of correspondence. We’ve got about 20 songs that we’re tracking.”

We may even hear an old David Cook original on the new disc. “I’ve lucked out in that I have a breadth of material to work from. We’re in the tracking process right now, and we’re working with one that looks like it’s going to fit.”
